Abducted Sun Editor’s Wife Released, Rejoins family

NwosusMrs. Toyin Nwosu, wife of the Deputy Managing Director of The Sun Newspapers, Mr Steve Nwosu, who was abducted a few days ago by a seven-man armed gang has been released. She returned to her Okota residence, Thursday morning after her captors dropped her in the Festac area of Lagos in the wee hours of Thursday before speeding off in a boat.

It would be recalled that the kidnappers escaped in a speed boat on the night she was abducted. The gunmen, numbering about seven had on Monday stormed Bale Street in Ogundiaro Bashorun Sunmonu Akanwo Estate, Okota at about 1a.m. They were said to have gained entrance into a building close to Nwosu’s house with the aid of an abandoned ladder used to paint the building.

After what seemed like a failed operation in the first house, the obviously frustrated robbers forced their way into Nwosu’s bungalow building by scaling the transformer fence. They were repelled from entering through the main door by heavily strengthened iron bars whereupon they broke into the apartment through the window, before gaining entrance into the sitting room.
