Again it’s Madrid Derby in European Champions League Final as Real Edge Past Man City

Real vs AtleticoManchester City failed to reach their first Champions League final after an uninspiring semi-final second-leg display at 10-time winners Real Madrid. They lost by a lone goal to re-enact a 2014 final in which Real Madrid faced rivals Atletico Madrid and beat them 4-1 after extra time.

Gareth Bale’s cross deflected off City’s Fernando for a lone goal victory over a lacklustre City.

Fernandinho clipped the post in a rare City chance as the visitors were largely off their rhythm. Real dominated play as Bale hit the bar and Joe Hart saved from Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo who himself struggled to find his sublime form.

Sergio Aguero’s speculative shot in the dying minutes only landed on the roof of the Madrid goal. That was the only moment of scare.

Real and La Liga rivals Atletico who edged out Bayern Munich will meet at Milan’s San Siro on 28 May, in a repeat of the 2014 all-Spanish final.
