The 2018 Hajj Report has been presented to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode by the Lagos State Chairman, Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Dr. Tajudeen Yusuf.

Governor Ambode, speaking at the presentation, commended the Board members for their excellent performance during the hajj exercise, despite being their first assignment after the inauguration of the board.

Ambode, who was represented by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr. Abdul Hakeem Abdul Lateef at the event, stated that the success of the Hajj exercise can solely be attributed to their individual brilliance and diligence.

He said, “Your success at the last operation shows that your performance is beyond the ordinary level of excellence. It is a reflection of each member and I am shocked with your resilience, selflessness and commitment in the discharge of your duties”.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman explained that the success of the 2018 Hajj operation was made possible as a result of Mr. Ambode’s legacy of excellence, unflinching support and the strong platform already in existence at the time of taking over the responsibility.

He also commended the leadership provided by the Ministry as well as the quality workforce of the civil servants, stressing that the officers involved were very diligent and coordinated effectively among themselves to make the Board’s task easy towards achieving overall success of the 2018 Hajj operation.

According to him, “We have a very cooperative Civil Service workforce that made our task easy and smooth. The template on ground provided a soft landing for the Board members in terms of medical screening, airlifting, bio-metrics, feeding, accommodation, enlightenment and quality service during the last operation”.

He pointed out that the presentation of the report signifies the official end of the year operation and the commencement of preparations for the 2019 Hajj exercise.
