“Because You Came, You Have Our Vote”, Adamawa Gov Tells Jonathan

Goodluck-JonathanPresident Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was in Yola the Adamawa State capital during the weekend – making it the third in a month.

The President’s visit was said to sooth frayed nerves over the squabble that saw the party (PDP)

fractionalized over the last party primaries held in Abuja and not in Adamawa state as the constitution demands .

Since the said party primaries which produced Malam Nuhu Ribadu for

the Governorship ticket, all has not been well.

There is still rancour over the NationalAassembly seats and which has

created fear as to the seriousness of the Peoples Democratic Party

(PDP) in winning the state election.

Hot exchanges took place at the special stakeholders meeting between

some of the party stalwarts but the humility of Mr. President brought

the situation under control.

Journalists were asked to go out but sources disclosed how

chief Grace Folashade Jackson Bent condemned a speech by Senator

Jonathan Silas Zwingina who was said to have seen nothing wrong with

the primaries held in Abuja.

During the stakeholders meeting, President Jonathan was able to address most of the thorny issues.

Chairing the meeting which took place at the Government House Yola, he

appealed passionately to all the aggrieved party faithful on the need

to work for the success of the party.

The President’s intervention appeared to have been the tonic that has

probably nipped the problem which has continued to give party faithful

sleepless nights.

Governor James Bala Ngilari in his remarks assured that the President

should be rest assured of victory in Adamawa State.

“As a party faithful sir, we must deliver to you and the other members

the needed victory”, he promised.

Ngilari disclosed that he was sure that with Malam Nuhu Ribadu as the

standard bearer of the party it is therefore a blessing for the party

and the people of the state.

“What we need is a governor with international connections and using

these connections to develop our state”, he added.

State chairman of the party Chief Joel Madaki said members have agreed

to put behind all the wrangling with a total pledge to work for the victory of the PDP.

He conceded that there was inter house struggle in the state chapter

of the party adding that before now, only two parties PDP and APC

existed in the state but since the primaries there are now four

parties in Adamawa State.

This he said was because disenchanted members left for other parties

while the rival APC did not lose one member to the PDP.

He appealed for support from Mr. President saying the party officials

have since commended reconciliation in the 226 wards that make up

Adamawa State.

In a similar development, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have kick

started their campaigns in full swing as they started with Girei and

Song Local Government Areas.
