Biafra killings: US Court Hears Charges against Buratai, Obiano, Ikpeazu, IG, others
More details of the charges slammed against 16 top Nigerian Government, Army and Police officials before the US District Court for the District of Columbia by legal representatives of 10 pro-Biafra activists, have emerged. The ongoing case centred on the alleged killing of 10 unarmed pro-Biafra agitators by Nigerian security personnel.
While the military had earlier denied culpability in the alleged crime, the pro-Biafra group and other activists have insisted that the matter be looked into as they claim active involvement of Nigerian security men in the massacre of the unarmed men. The killings occurred in Abia, Anambra and Delta states in 2016.
Representing the litigants is renowned United States Attorney, Mr. Bruce Fein, and his Partner, Mr. W. Bruce DelValle, who recently spent five days (August 19 to 24, 2017) in Nigeria.
