Coronavirus is real, stay safe – Atiku warns

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has warned Nigerians to stay safe, saying coronavirus is real.

Atiku disclosed this in a Twitter message on Sunday night as he announced his son has tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Abubakar, who was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 Presidential elections called for prayers for his son and urged Nigerians to stay safe.

His tweet reads: “My son has tested positive to coronavirus. @NCDCGov has been duly informed, and he has been moved to Gwagwalada Specialist Teaching Hospital in Abuja for treatment and management. I will appreciate it if you have him in your prayers. Stay safe, coronavirus is real”.

Atiku had earlier tweeted, “I join millions of other Nigerians to celebrate our health workers for their courageous work at this challenging time, and I urge all Nigerians to remain strong while we fight the scourge of this COVID-19 to the end”.

The cases of infected persons in Nigeria as announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, as at Sunday has risen to 30.
