Court fixes Jan 24 for hearing on Ile Arugbo demolition suit

A Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin has fixed January 24, 2020 for commencement of hearing in the case between the state government and Asa Investment Ltd over the disputed land on which the demolished Ile Arugbo, residence of the Olusola Saraki family was built.

The day was slated for hearing and determination of motion on notice on the interlocutory injunction granted Asa Investment Limited, restraining the Kwara state government and its agents from taking further action on the already demolished Ile Arugbo.

Joined as defendants are the Kwara state governor, the state government, the state house of assembly, the state bureau of lands and the inspector
general of police.

While others were served the court process, the claimant applicant, Abdulazeez Ibrahim told the court that the 5th respondent, the inspector general of police could not be served. He applied that he be served through substituted means which the court granted.

Since the issue has been generating a lot controversies in the state, Justice Abiodun Adebara advised the parties to allow for peaceful settlement of the case.

Justice Abiodun Adebara however appealed to parties in the demolition of Ile Arugbo to maintain peace and try to settle the matter amicably.
