Four companies linked to Patience Jonathan slush fund plead guilty

patience-jonathan1All the four companies allegedly involved in a money laundering case against former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, have pleaded guilty before a federal court in Lagos. This breaks the first crust in the multi-layered money laundering case linked the Dame Patience Jonathan. The guilty plea may open up more fronts in the web of conspiracy associated with the movement of slush fund within the Presidency across the financial sector.

The companies are: Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited; Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited; and Avalon Global Property Development Company Limited. They all pleaded guilty to a 15-count charge before Justice Babs Kuewumi.

However, while the companies pleaded guilty, the persons allegedly involved in the slush fund bazaar pleaded not guilty before the judge. They are Messrs. Waripamo Dudafa, Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to former President Goodluck Jonathan;  Amajuoyi Azubike Briggs, an aide to the former President; and former staff of Skye Bank, Damola Bolodeoku.

This was the first major case in a web of alleged illicit financial transactions linked the person and office of the former first lady.
