Fury knocks out Wilder at Round 7, thanks Jesus; rematch still possible

Fury floors Wilder

British heavyweight boxer, Tyson Fury, proved too good and too swift for America’s Deontay Wilder after he knocked out Wilder at seventh round in their scheduled 12-round match.

Fury was the better fighter throughout the fight as he got Wilder bleeding from his left ear right from the first round after inflicting his fiery right hand punch on the US fighter who seemed to wobble all through the night.

As the match progressed from first round, Wilder received more vicious beatings going down in several rounds but getting up to continue receiving more punches.

The bleeding intensified in the 5th, 6th and 7th rounds from both his lips and ears and he was obviously drained of strength forcing his corner to throw in the towel. The referee had to stop the fight. Fury is now king. The Gypsy king is back.

An excited Fury who looked clean and unhurt thanked Jesus and various sponsors as he addressed the crowd and then launched into a version of Don McLean’s American Pie. His supporters joined in the singing as they chorused rapturously.

Wilder has a rematch clause with Fury but he may not want to face the Briton again after the beating he just took. The obvious fight now is Anthony Joshua, but whether that happens is another question.

Fury was just too good for his opponent tonight. He was not only too good technically but he was too powerful too. He out-thought and outfought Wilder, and the American could not find his balance to unleash that legendary power. Fury just put in one of the great performances by a British fighter abroad.
