The Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mrs. Boladele Dapo-Thomas has cautioned the building public to desist from engaging the services of agents or third parties in seeking planning information and obtaining planning permits in the State.

Speaking as a panel discussant at the FIABCI–NIGERIA International Real Estate Federation Business Forum, Mrs. Dapo-Thomas said that the various reforms embarked upon by the present administration have made it easy to interface directly with the Ministry and its agencies.

While urging professionals to familiarise themselves with the recent legislation and reforms guiding the permit approval process, she disclosed that the Ministry has introduced the e-planning permit, provisional permit and granting of a moratorium on penal fees amongst others, to aid the ease of doing business in Lagos.

On his part, the FIABCI World President, Mr. Assen Makedonov said the International Real Estate Federation is the most representative real estate organisation in the world and the programme was being held to help expose how ease of doing business will benefit real estate business with lessons from around the world.

He urged government to make the business-environment friendly as Foreign Direct Investment would be directed to countries that have political and economic stability.

Also speaking at the event, the FIABCI-NIGERIA President, Mr. Adele Adeniji said the event’s theme “Ease of Doing Business” with focus on the real estate industry was carefully selected in accordance with the Association’s idea of providing the society with optimal solutions to its property needs and helping make the society happy.

He thanked attendees and other stakeholders for their support over the years and urged them to seize the opportunity of the forum to network for greater achievements in the profession.
