Lagos explosion: Stay away from area of explosion – LSSC warns residents

The Lagos State Safety Commission, LSSC, has urged residents of Festac, Abule Ado, Mile 2, Ojo and its environs to stay away from the area of the Gas Explosion which occurred early hours of Sunday.

The Commission in a twitter message appealed to residents to also leave all vehicles and avoid phone calls around the area.

The governor of Lagos State had earlier announced a N2 billion relief fund, and an immediate injection of N250 million into the fund.

According to him, “This is certainly beyond what the state government can undertake on its own. This is beyond what the government, be it at the national or state, can undertake on its own”.

“So, what this fund would do is to give everybody the opportunity to be part of it and to be able to donate into it,” the governor said.

He also said that the fund would be managed by the Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat.

Earlier, the governor also setup a committee to look into the immediate cause of the explosion at Abule Ado.

He said that the committee, which would be headed by the Deputy Governor, had two weeks to do an extensive investigation as to what caused the explosion.
