Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Ibrahim Buratai said on Thursday in Bauchi that the Nigerian Army was partnering with organisations to produce military equipment.

Buratai said this while answering questions from newsmen at the ongoing weeklong Combat Arms Training (CAT WEEK 2018), being hosted by the Nigeria Army Armored Corps, Bauchi.

“More importantly, we are partnering with different organizations, different agencies in terms of production of armoured vehicles and in term of production soft skills vehicles.

“This is seen from our last research and innovations summit as well as exhibition where we saw the collaboration between the Nigerian Army and PROFOST, Nigerian Army with INNSONS Motors Manufacturing Company and a host of others.

“And we are getting support from government agencies, Science and Technology Ministry –especially.

“Most of the agencies under the ministry are collaborating with us in different fields.’’

Commenting on crises that have engulfed some some states in the North West and North Central States of the country, he said efforts were being made by the army to curb the menace.

“We are mobilizing; (providing) security is a continuous thing and you must continue to evolve new techniques, new strategies and procedures to ensure that you tackle the problms.

“There is no society that will be 100 per cent crime-free and as such we continue to evolve.

“No matter what the situation is, we are equipping, we are training and we are also administering to the needs of our troops to boost their morale across our theatre of operations.

“So we hope very soon all these efforts of the Federal Government, the excess crude account special provision by the National Economic Council is a major step to ensure that the armed forces are equipped for us to address the security challenges.
