Nigerians storm Abuja House in London; demand return of Buhari to Nigeria

President Buhari while departing Abuja for London

Some Nigerians in the UK Thursday stormed the Abuja House in London where President Muhammadu Buhari has been holidaying. The protesters said they had come to tell President Buhari to return to Nigeria and spend his holiday there.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

Armed with pictures of unfolding events in Nigeria, the protesters insisted on speaking with Buhari but the President was driven out in a black SUV leaving the small crowd of Nigerians to remonstrate endlessly.

British police drafted to the place politely told the protesters to go to the Nigerian Embassy and book an appointment to see the President to which the protesters refused.

They insisted that the President should return to Nigeria and fix the hospitals and the economy.

They pooh-poohed Nigerian officials at the Abuja House for calling the police on them, taunting them to take a cue from other democracies where civil protests are allowed.

They said they were protesting on behalf of wounded Nigerians.
