World Teachers’ Day: Buhari salutes his first teacher, Wike pledges better deal for Rivers teachers

buhari skypes with eagletsAs Nigeria joined the rest of the world Wednesday to mark Word Teachers’ Day, President Muhammadu Buhari has celebrated his primary school teacher.

Buhari took to his official Twitter page on Wednesday to pay glowing tribute to the first man who taught him how to read and write.

He joined the #WorldTeachersDay trend on social media to remember his Pa Kasimu Zangon-Daura.

He tweeted, “On this #WorldTeachersDay I remember Kasimu Adamu Zangon-Daura, my Junior Primary School Teacher. Who is the first Teacher you remember?”

Meanwhile, the Senator representing Enugu North senatorial district, Utazi Chukwuka, has called on the government at all levels to make the welfare of Teachers priority.

Senator Utazi said the situation whereby government pay all civil servants down to local government staff before paying Primary or Secondary Schools Teachers was very miserable and discouraging.

Meanwhile, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has felicitated  with teachers  in the state on the occasion  of  the World Teachers Day, assuring  them that his administration  will always promote their welfare.

The governor stated that teachers are critical  to  his administration’s restructuring  of  the  Education Sector  as a tool for  the  empowerment  of the people.

A statement by Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on Electronic Media stressed that the current phased rehabilitation of  secondary  schools  across the three Senatorial Districts of the state is aimed at improving  teaching and learning environment in the state.

While  congratulating  all teachers in Rivers State, Governor Wike lauded them for their strategic contributions  to the development.

The governor  urged all Rivers people to continue  to celebrate  teachers for being pivotal to the  greatness  for which the state is known for.
