Operatives of the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos, have arrested six suspected armed robbers alleged to specialise in dispossessing innocent citizens of their valuables.

The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Umma Ayuba, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.

She explained that the suspects were apprehended following a coordinated operation based on credible intelligence.

“The suspects were apprehended after several complaints reached the Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade, who deployed the Dragon Team to track down the perpetrators, ” she said.

According to her, the breakthrough occurred on Oct. 5, at about 10:00 p.m., when operatives traced the suspects to their hideout in the Ijebu Ode area shortly after a robbery operation.

“During the raid, officers recovered two locally made pistols, thirty live cartridges, and a wine-coloured Toyota Camry with registration number KNN 383 BU, believed to have been used by the suspects, ” the spokesperson said.

The image maker said AIG commended residents for their cooperation with law enforcement agencies.

“Fayode, while commending residents, reaffirm the command’s commitment to ensuring public safety across its jurisdiction.

“AIG further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to continue providing useful information that could assist the police in preventing and combating crime, ” Ayuba said.
