The Reigners’ Bible Church, located along Uyo Village Road in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State collapsed Saturday morning with over 50 worshippers feared dead. The state Governor, Udom Emmanuel, who was billed to attend the church service was yet to get to the church when the building filled to capacity caved in killing scores of faithful and injuring many.
The church was holding a special service dedicated to the consecration of its pastor, Pastor Akan Week, as a bishop pastor. Reports from the church members said it was being renovated and expanded to accommodate more members and worshippers.
At the time of filing this report, many people were still trapped in the rubble with locals and emergency officials rallying to rescue more people and remove the corpses of the dead.
