Obi Noah Akaeze arrives Asaba International Airport enroute Ubulu Uku

The Asaba International Airport swarmed with activities Thursday evening with Ubulu-Uku sons and daughters showcasing their rich cultures in dance and music as they welcomed their Obi, HRM Obi Chukwuka Noah Akaeze, from the United Kingdom.

The return to the throne of his fathers has transformed Ubulu-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government of Delta State into a giant carnival as the Obi, a first-class traditional ruler in the state, returns from Britain seven years after his coronation.

A grand reception holds on Friday, December 29 in the royal palace ground. The entire town has lined up series of activities to celebrate Obi Akaeze’s royal return.

The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, will be the Special Guest of Honour while many traditional rulers in the state will also be in attendance.

The Obi-in-Council will also hold its own ceremony where all the chiefs will pay homage to the monarch. The highlight of the ceremony is a youth carnival organized by the Ubulu-Uku Youths Development Council.

Obi Chukwuka Noah Akaeze was  coronated and staff of office handed over to him on September 5, 2015 by the then Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, who was represented by the deputy governor at the time, Barr. Kingsley Burutu Otuaro.

A statement issued by Mr. Pius Mordi, chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Planning Team, quoted Mr. Jonathan Monye, president of the Ubulu-Uku Development Council (UDC) as saying that the event is also a come home for indigenes of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom.

Obi Akaeze succeeded his father who was murdered suspected herdsmen in January 2016.
