Hours after the Court of Appeal declared Mr. Alex Otti, the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) winner of the Abia State Governorship election, in clear nullification of the ruling of the tribunal which earlier ratified the declaration of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as winner, the camp of Governor Ikpeazu are warming up for the Supreme Court.
In a Thursday ruling in Owerri, the Imo State capital, the court upheld the appeal of Otti, a former managing director of Diamond Bank Plc, and ordered his swearing-in as governor. Otti had previously lost at the state election petitions tribunal in November.
The verdict of the Appeal sent the camp of Otti into a frenzy of jubilation throughout the state but an aide of Governor Ikpeazu told our reporter that the Governor’s legal team is already working to head to the Supreme Court.
