Scene from Abule Ado pipeline explosion

The Chairman of Amuwo Odofin LGA,  Mr Valetine Buriamoh has ruled out pipeline vandalism  as the cause of the explosion which rocked Festac and its environs in the early hours of Sunday.

Valentine who visited the scene of the explosion said some students of Bethlehem Girls School, destroyed by the explosion, were rescued from the scene.

“There are some army personnel about 20 metres away monitoring the pipeline so it’s not vandalisation,” he said.

He appealed to residents to give  access  to security operatives and emergency responders to do their jobs.

Several churches and houses were destroyed even as undisclosed number of lives have been lost.

Political Economist gathered that the injured were taken to hospitals in and around Festac including the Holy Family Catholic church Festac medical centre.

One of the victims told Political Economist that she looking for her husband as she was only able to escape with her 4 children. “We’re now homeless, the explosion brought down our house,” she said.

Cause of explosion is however yet to be known.
