Adamawa Assembly lauds Buhari over new SGF, NEDC

Admin November 1, 2017

November 1, 2017

The Adamawa House of Assembly on Wednesday, passed a resolution commending President Muhammadu Buhari for the appointment of Mr Boss Mustafa as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The Assembly also praised Buhari for signing the North East Development Commission (NEDC) bill into law.

The resolution followed a motion raised under “Matters of Urgent Public Importance” by Abdulrahman Abubakar (APC-Mubi South).

Abubakar said that Buhari deserved commendation from the people of the state for again picking a citizen of the state to replace the former occupant of the position, Babachir Lawal, also a citizen of the state.

“President Buhari also deserves our commendation for signing the NEDC bill into law which for sure will facilitate the rehabilitation and reconstruction of North-East, particularly areas affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.

“As someone from the area, I want to register the happiness of my people in particular and Adamawa in general over this development,’’ he said.

Also speaking, the House Majority Leader, Hassan Barguma (APC-Hong) said the people of his constituency where both the former and present SGF hailed from were overwhelmed by the development.

He said the people of the area were appreciative of Buhari’s special consideration to them by picking their son consecutively.

“The people of Kilba land feel honoured by Mr President for his magnanimity to us by replacing a Kilba man (Babachir) with another Kilba man (Mustafa).”

Lumsambani Dili (PDP-Demsa) and Sunday Peter (APC-Guyuk) said Mr President had done well for Adamawa and North-East and deserved special commendation, particularly from the people of Adamawa.

The Speaker of the House, Kabiru Mijinyawa (APC-Yola South), who presided over the plenary, said Adamawa people were well represented in President Buhari government.

He said the key positions occupied by SGF and Minister of FCT attested to the fact.

Mijinyawa said Buhari and National Assembly deserved commendation for the NEDC bill.
