As residents living along Lagos – Badagry expressway continue to groan under the hardship caused by the abandoned road project, some concerned Lagosians have announced a planned blockade of the expressway beginning Tuesday, October 30 and Wednesday, 31 2018 to protest the neglect of the road by the Federal Government.
The announcement of the planned protest was contained in a social media message obtained by Political Economist magazine.
The would-be protesters also called on operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps to stay off the road until it is repaired.
The message, titled: ‘MASS ACTION! MASS ACTION!! MASS ACTION!!! FOR REPAIR OF BADAGRY EXPRESS ROAD’ reads, “There shall be mass action and mobilization of Nigerian citizens on Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st October 2018 along Badagry roundabout to Mile 2. It would be recalled that work had stopped on the road. The road project, which includes bridges, was at inception divided into phases to hasten completion work. The first phase was expected to be completed on February 3rd, 2013. But five years down the line the government is yet to fulfill the promises made during inception.
