Army rescues 6 kidnap victims in Katsina

Troops of the 17 Brigade in Katsina have rescued six kidnap victims in Faskari Local Government Area of the state during a routine patrol.
The Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 17 Brigade, Capt. Abayomi Adisa, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Katsina.
He said the rescue took place on June 29, when troops deployed at Unguwan Doka, while on a routine foot patrol, found six kidnapped victims wandering in the bush after escaping from their abductors.
According to him, the victims comprised four women and two male children identified as Mrs. Umaima Isiaku, 30; Amina Isiaku, 16; Safiya Isiaku, 15; Ramatu Suleiman, 30; Muhammad Shehu, 4; and Ibrahim Suleiman, 2.
Adisa said preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were abducted by suspected armed bandits from Unguwan Lado in Kankara Local Government Area on June 22.
According to him, the Commander of the 17 Brigade, Brig.-Gen. Ishaya Ibrahim, reaffirmed the brigade’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against criminal elements.
He further quoted the Commander ensuring the safety of lives and property across its area of responsibility.
