ASUU suspends its 3-month-old strike from midnight of Friday, Feb. 8, after meeting with Federal Government, its President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, announces.

The Federal Government met with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities on Thursday in continuation of efforts to resolve the strike by the lecturers.

The meeting was conciliatory and ended with both parties signing an MoU.

ASUU commenced strike on Nov. 5, 2018, to press home its demands for better funding of universities..

The lecturers are demanding for the implementation of agreement entered into by the government with the union.

The major demands of the union include the university revatilisation fund and earned allowances.

During the last meeting between the Federal Government and ASUU, both parties agreed that all grey areas have been trashed out and the union will only relay the information to its members and adjourned for a new meeting on Feb.7.
