Babangida’s son turns down Tinubu’s BoA appointment

Muhammad Babangida

Mohammed Babangida, the son of former military President Ibrahim Babangida, has reportedly declined his appointment as chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BoA) for personal and professional reasons.

Political Economist NG reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had barely 48 hours ago approved the appointment of Muhammad Babangida and Sunusi Musa, a prominent lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), as chairmen of two critical federal institutions in a wave of recent appointments that featured many northerners.

Babangida, 53, will serve as the Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture, while Musa was appointed Chairman of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR). The appointments are part of a broader reshuffling of leadership across several federal agencies.

Babangida holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Public Relations and Business Communication from the European University in Montreux, Switzerland. He also completed the Executive Program on Corporate Governance at Harvard Business School in 2002.
