Thirteen persons comprising 12 married women and a man are said to have been kidnapped in a fresh bandits’ attack at Kurechin Giye village of Makera Ward in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State.

During the invasion, the hoodlums carted away properties worth millions of naira belonging to the residents.

A resident who pleaded anonymity told Channels Television that the hoodlums were armed with dangerous and sophisticated weapons and invaded the village late Monday.

Although the government and security authorities in the state are yet to comment on the issue, the resident said during the attack which lasted for hours there was no security intervention or reinforcement.

“On their arrival, the hoodlums were said to have been splashing hot millet-inclined drink prepared by the residents to break the fast on small children and women and eventually carted away property worth millions of naira,” the resident said.

Their abduction is the latest in a series of kidnappings in Katsina and other states especially in the North-West and North-East regions.

Katsina is one of the states most ravaged by the incessant abductions and banditry.
