After his curious absence at the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, President Muhammadu Buhari made it to the mosque on Friday to observe the Jumat service.
Two state governors, Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna and Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun joined the President for the Jumat service held at the State House mosque. His appearance at the Jumat thus put to rest speculations about his state of health.
There were also some members of the National Assembly and ministers who attended the service.
In his sermon, Chief Imam of the State House Mosque, Sheikh Abdulwaheed Sulaiman called on Muslims and Christians to unite as brothers and sisters because of the common Abrahamic origin of their religions.
He stressed the need for unity among the followers of the two major religions, asking them to share kindness and hospitality.
“We all belong to God and to Him we will be going back,’’ he said.
Suleiman also urged all Nigerians to continue to support the administration of President Buhari ‘’as it fights corruption and insecurity in the land, at the same time seeking economic recovery and prosperity for all’’.
According to him, it is duty bound on Muslims to follow the path of Prophet Muhammed (SAW) as defined in the Qur’an.
