Buhari in France, Gets Backing from Hollande Against Terror

Admin September 15, 2015

Buhari and HollandePresident Muhammadu Buhari and French President Francoise Hollande Monday met at the Elysee Palace in Paris with both leaders sharing notes on security. Hollande however promised to give more support to Nigeria’s terror was, stressing that Boko Haram and Islamic states jihadists are the same with similar evil motive..

President Buhari who is on a three-day official visit has reiterated the effort of his government to rout the terror group from Nigeria. President Hollande said that as far as France was concerned since Boko Haram announced its alliance with ISIS, it has expanded its operations. That alliance Hollande said has given the Boko Haram ‘a source of material resources.’

According to Hollande “we know Boko Haram is linked to Daech(Arabic derogatory word for ISIS) and to receive help, support from this group. To fight Boko Haram is to fight Daech, and we can no longer single out terrorism according to regions. It is the same terrorism inspired by the same ideology of death.”

The Nigerian delegation that accompanied President Buhari to France will be holding bilateral discussions on varied interest areas of mutual concern.

Nigeria and France have had a long history of bilateral relations, it is expected that the visit of the Nigerian president would further strengthen this relationship in areas of security, investment and culture.
