Buhari votes, says “I will win, congratulate myself”

Admin February 23, 2019

President Buhari and wife, Aisha, vote in Daura

President Muhammadu Buhari has insisted that he will win Saturday’s presidential election and then congratulate himself for the electoral victory.

The president said this after casting his vote at 8:05 a.m. in PU003, Sarkin Yara ward, Daura.

The president was reacting to questions on whether he would congratulate the winner of the election if he failed to emerge victorious at the end of the exercise.

Buhari, who stressed that he would surely win the election, expressed satisfaction so far over the conduct of the elections, saying “so far so good, everything is going smoothly’’.

He commended the electorate for their orderly conduct so far at the polls.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Buhari and his wife, Aisha, were the first to cast their votes at their polling unit in Daura.

They arrived the PU003 at Sarkin Yara ward at exactly 8a.m., and they were accredited immediately without hitches.

Aisha was the first to vote after which her husband voted.

When he came out of the cubicle to cast his vote, Buhari was clearly heard jokingly telling his wife that “I had to peep because you are from Adamawa”.

President Buhari’s main challenger, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar is an indigene of Adamawa.
