An Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife, on Friday, remanded a 47 year-old bricklayer, Ogundele Olaniyi, over alleged kidnapping.

The Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan 21,2025 around 3:00 pm at Igbotapa area, Ile-Ife.

Osanyintuyi said that the defendant conspired with others now at large to commit felony to wit: kidnapping.

He added that the defendant unlawfully kidnapped one Oluwaseun Adewuyi, 25, in such a manner to prevent any person entitled to have access to him from discovering the place he’s being hidden.

According to him, the offence was contrary to sections:364 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The Defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to two-count charge of: conspiracy and kidnapping.

The Defence Counsel, Mr Philip Fasanmoye, applied for the bail of the defendant in most Liberal term, promised that his client would not jump bail, but would provide responsible sureties.

Magistrate Kikelomo Adebayo did not grant the bail of the sureties, but asked his defence Counsel to come with file application.

Adebayo, therefore, ordered for the remand of the defendant in Ile-Ife Nigerian Correctional centre and adjourned the case until Feb 25.(NAN)
