A Family Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, on Thursday remanded a 76-year-old man, Akeem Muritala, in a correction centre for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
Ogunkanmi adjourned the case until Oct. 23 for mention.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Gbemisola Adedeji, told the court that Miritala committed the offence in July in Isale-Afa area of Ibadan.

She said that the girl reported what happened to the police.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 34 of the Child Rights Law 2006.(NAN)
