Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu

Four coronavirus patients; three males and one female have been discharged from Lagos State isolation facilities, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said on Saturday.

The governor in a Twitter message said two of the patients were from the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba while the other two were from the Onikan Isolation Centre.

Dear Lagosians,

Today, 4 more persons; 3 males and 1 female were discharged to join the society.

The patients; 2 from the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba and 2 others from Onikan Isolation Centre have fully recovered and tested negative twice consecutively to #COVID19

Governor Sanwo-Olu said the patients had recovered and tested negative twice consecutively to COVID -19.

“This brings the number of patients successfully managed and discharged from our isolation facilities to 94,” he added.

Earlier, the state Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, confirmed the death of three coronavirus patients in the State.

According to Prof. Abayomi, the deceased were two males and one female aged 52, 63 and 67.

He added that 32 new #COVID19 cases were confirmed in Lagos on April 17, 2020 bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos to 286.

“Sadly, Lagos has recorded 3 more deaths bringing total number of #COVID19 related deaths in Lagos to 13. Two of the dead had underlying health issues”.

Professor Abayomi explained that the female was suspected to have had contact with an infected person who recently returned to Nigeria.

He, however, said the two males had no travel history or record of contact with an infected person.

The commissioner urged the residents of the state to remain vigilant and report any concern about COVID-19 infection in their communities to the appropriate authorities.
