Dec. 13, 2021

The National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) has engaged the National Universities Commission (NUC) to ensure COVID-19 Mass Vaccination across the country.

According to the NPHCDA in a post on Monday, in a bid to get all eligible Nigerians vaccinated, the Agency’s Head, Dr. Faisal Shuaib engaged Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, the Executive Secretary of NUC on COVID-19 Mass Vaccination of students and communities within the Nigerian universities.

Recall that the NPHCDA had announced the beginning of a mass Vaccination campaign in November, aiming to inoculate half of its targeted population by the end of January.

With a goal to vaccinate 111 million people to reach herd immunity, the plan will see vaccine sites set up at private health facilities, universities, colleges, stadiums, motor parks and shopping malls among other venues.

The Presidential Steering Committee has also announced the Vaccine Mandate beginning 1st December, 2021 which it said will be in the best interest of Nigeria looking at what is happening globally.

“We are gearing up to further engage with the Nigerian Governors’ Forum to push through the mass vaccination programme and mandate for our citizens,” the FG stated.
