COVID-19: Over 400 families benefit from Lagos Phoenix Lions Club’s food relief programme in Lagos

In response to the hardship occasioned by the COVID-19 lockdown in the country, members of the Lagos Phoenix Lions Club with support from the TGI Group has provided food relief for 452 families within the Ebute Metta Area of Lagos through its Relief outreach programme.

According to the President of the Club, Joyce Akpata, “No doubt, the lockdown has led to severe hardship occasioned by loss of regular income due to closure of a sizeable number of businesses.

She called on individuals and organisations to explore ways of supporting the vulnerable members of their communities while also taking care of themselves and staying safe.

“Together, we will restore hope and comfort to our communities”, she added.

Akpata noted that, “When caring people join together, roll up their sleeves and take action to make their community better, it’s a beautiful thing and an incredible feeling for everyone involved”.

The Lagos Phoenix, a part of the District 404A1 with presence in over 90 communities in Delta, Edo, Ondo and parts of Ogun and Lagos States of Nigeria, has  impacted over 200,000 lives in its service activities in the last 2 years, globally focusing on Hunger Relief, Environment, Childhood Cancer, Diabetes, Youth Empowerment and Disaster Relief.
