Delta Airlines, passenger dies in-flight
Delta Airlines says it has entered into a code share partnership with Kenya Airways to provide a one-stop seamless travel experience to their passengers.
Mr Corneel Koster, the airline’s Senior Vice-President for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India, made the disclosure on Thursday in Lagos.
A code share agreement is an aviation business arrangement in which two or more airlines share the same flight operations to their passengers.
Koster said that the partnership was signed on Aug. 11, adding that by the agreement, the Delta Airline code would be on Kenya Airways’ flights from Amsterdam, Paris, London and Accra to Nairobi.
“In addition, Delta will place its code on Kenya Airways services to 10 key cities across Africa,” he said in a statement.
According to him, the cities include Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Lilongwe, Malawi; Maputo, Mozambique; Johannesburg, South Africa and Djibouti.
“Delta is the leading carrier between the United States and Africa.
“This new partnership with Kenya Airways will give customers, even greater choice for travel between the continents; thanks to Kenya Airways’ extensive network beyond Nairobi,” he said.
The airline’s senior vice-president also quoted the Chief Commercial Officer, Kenya Airways, Mr Vincent Coste, as saying that the airline was delighted with the partnership.
“We believe that this will bring real benefits to our customers and our business.
“Kenya Airways and Delta are both premier airlines and this agreement is a positive step in our cooperation,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Delta Airlines, since 2006, operates flights to Lagos, Nigeria; Accra, Ghana; Dakar, Senegal and Johannesburg, South Africa.
Kenya Airways is a leading African carrier and operates in 52 destinations worldwide, 43 of which are in Africa.
