Admin November 4, 2015

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State

Okowa OFFICIAL PORTRAITDelta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has disclosed that his victory at the April 11th Governorship election and the Governor’s tribunal was as a result of the support and solidarity of the work force in the state.

Speaking at a special interdenominational thanksgiving service in Asaba by Organized Labour in commemoration of his Victory at the Governorship tribunal, Okowa said that workers in the state mobilized for his success and gave him their maximum support during and after the elections.

According to him “All workers in the local government, public and civil service in the state showed me their support, this is what led to my victory especially at the Governor’s tribunal and l appreciate this kind gesture. l thank them for this thanksgiving to God on my behalf and promise that l will always carry workers along in this administration.”

The Governor who was represented by his Senior Political Adviser, Hon. Festus Ochonogor stated that government would consolidate on its transformation agenda for the benefit of all Deltans adding that ” This administration will not fail Deltans especially workers because you have done your part by electing us into office, we will fulfil our campaign promises to you and ensure that there is prosperity for all.”

Senior Pastor Ese Michael from Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Asaba, in a sermon titled “The God of Victory” explained that the Victory of Governor Okowa at the tribunal was also the victory of the state and called on all to work with the government of the day to deliver prosperity for all Deltans.

Pastor Ese then charged workers “to befriend Jesus, live by the word of God and live a righteous life to continue in the victory that God has given the state.”

In a brief remark, the Chairman of Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade David Ofoyeno thanked workers for coming out enmass to honour God and the governor explaining that Governor Okowa was a labour friendly man and was always concerned about the welfare of workers in the state.

“The governor is a labour friendly governor and is concerned about workers welfare, he is a grassroots governor because he has worked with local government staff as a council chairman.   Labour organized rallies to support Governor Okowa when he was campaigning, this is because he has supported workers in the state by ensuring that our salaries, arrears, co-operative and check up dues have been paid till date.”
