Diaspora Nigerians launch Internet TV

April 1, 2022

The Nigerians in Diaspora Leadership and Governance Canada Inc. (LGC) on Thursday in Abuja launched the Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) into the Nigerian market.

The Abuja reports that the launching was held at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja with both Nigerians at home and in the diaspora in attendance.

Mr Kola Esomojumi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LGC Media, said that LGC IPTV technology was a Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from Nigerians in diaspora, in partnership with FNIK Media Inc.

He said that it was in response to the clarion call by President Muhammadu Buhari on Nigerians in the diaspora to support the economic initiative of the Federal Government of Nigeria by mobilising FDI to the country.

“LGC has been a strong advocate in the promotion of FDI to Nigeria. In September 2019 we hosted the first Canadian-Nigerian Business and Investment Summit in Toronto, Canada.

“In collaboration with the Nigeria High Commission, Ottawa, Canada the summit was attended by 200 businesses, individuals and government institutions. The next edition is billed for October 2022 in Toronto,” he said.

He said that LGC IPTV commencement of operations in Nigeria would boost the country’s economic base and create many direct and indirect jobs.

Also, it would enhance economic diversification and promote ancillary investments in the entertainment sector.

Speaking also, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) lauded the Nigerians community in Canada for a job well done.

She quoted President Buhari as saying that the Nigerian communities in diaspora were the number one ambassadors of Nigeria.

Dabiri-Erewa said that if nationals of other countries were investing in Nigeria why not Nigeria both at home and abroad.

She said that since Nigerians abroad were developing the economies of other host countries, they should also develop the economy of their home country.

Dabiri-Erewa also spoke on the Diaspora Trust Fund and urged Nigerians in the diaspora to come over and invest as the government has created an enabling environment for their investment to yield profit.

Sen. Matthew Urhoghide, the Chairman, Senate Public Accounts Committee , said that the initiative of the Nigerian Diaspora in Canada would add value to the Nigerian people.

“We are ever ready to key into what will add value to the lives of our people,” he said.

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of LGC IPTV technology and some Nigerians were given awards for their outstanding work both in Nigeria and in the diaspora. (NAN)
