Eight inmates earn NOUN degrees at Kaduna custodial centre
Eight inmates of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kaduna, have graduated from the National Open University of Nigeria.
The Command Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service in Kaduna State, Zaki Emmanuel Mahmud, disclosed this in a statement.
He said the graduates comprise seven undergraduate degree holders and one inmate who earned a Master’s degree.
The graduation ceremony was held at the custodial centre, with the Vice-Chancellor of NOUN, Olufemi Peters, represented by a senior official, who commended the inmates for their resilience and commitment to education.
The statement adds that the Kaduna State Command has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding educational opportunities for inmates as part of efforts to prepare them for productive reintegration into society.
