EKSG commissions 187 Solar Direct Drive Cold Chain Equipment to facilitate uninterrupted availability, distribution of vaccines

Governor Kayode Fayemi  of Ekiti has commissioned 187 Solar Direct Drive Cold Chain Equipment to facilitate uninterrupted availability and distribution of vaccines (including #COVID19 vaccine) in their optimal storage temperature and quality.

This was contained in a statement by the State government on Tuesday.

According to the statement, “recall that in the New Year address, Governor Fayemi promised to install Solar-powered refrigerators for vaccine storage in 177 Primary Healthcare Centers (1 per Ward). The total number of refrigerators expected is 231, while 187 have been received, the remaining 44 are underway”.

It noted that this is another promise made and kept, as Ekiti people will have better access to life-saving vaccines to safeguard them against avoidable death due to infectious diseases. This was made possible through collaborative and counterpart funding of Ekiti State with he Federal Government

The Cold Chain equipment that was commissioned, means coordinated events in temperature-controlled environments to store, manage and transport the lifesaving products otherwise known as vaccines which must be continuously stored in a limited temperature range from the time they are manufactured until the moment of vaccination.
