The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ayo Fayose, has beaten the incumbent Governor Kayode Fayemi of the All progressives Congress, APC to emerge winner of the Ekiti State gubernatorial election, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. He polled 203,090 votes as against the 120,433 votes polled by Fayemi. Opeyemi Bamidele of Labour Party polled 18,135 votes. Fayose got majority votes in all local governments of the state, a mark of his state-wide popularity.
