Female Suicide Bombers Die in Borno, Troops rescue six abducted persons

About 1738hrs on Friday, two female suicide bombers detonated IEDs against a vehicle on a feeder road off Maiduguri /Mafa highway, close to NDLEA checkpoint in the outskirt of Maiduguri township.

However, only the two bombers died in the explosion, while eight others including a personnel of NDLEA sustained injuries, and are responding to treatment.

The vehicle, a golf taxi with reg. no XA 479 DRZ laden with bags of charcoal with two female passengers and a Tricycle keke Napep close to the scene were affected by the explosion.

The scene has since been rendered safe by police EOD team and normalcy restored to the area.

Meanwhile, on Friday 8th September 2017, at about 7.30am troops of Defence Company, 27 Brigade Nigerian Army, on Operation LAFIYA DOLE deployed at Kamuya, Yobe State, received report from some herdsmen that some suspected Boko Haram terrorists have abducted 6 persons from their village.

The troops in conjunction with local vigilante familiar with the area trailed the terrorists up to Mangari village which was about 20 kilometres away Kamuya, where they exchanged fire with them, neutralizing 2 of the terrorists and rescued the abducted persons. The troops also recovered 2 AK-47 rifles. The rescued persons have been reunited with their family.
