FRSC hands over N692,850 cash, recovered phones from accident scene to families

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Badagry Unit Command, on Monday, handed over N692,850 cash and phones recovered from scene of a ghastly accident to the victim’s relatives.
The Mazda commercial bus with 18 passengers from Mile 2, collided with a stationary truck, killing eight while 13 were critically injured at Atura axis of the Mile 2 – Badagry expressway.
Speaking at presentation, Mr. William Manga, the Unit Commander, FRSC, Badagry, said that the victims were involved in accident on the Mile 2 – Badagry Expressway on July 6.
He said that six passengers died on the spot while two others gave up the ghost on the way to the hospital, making it eight.
Manga said that 13 others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
“The FRSC personnel exhibited professionalism in the rescue operation by taking the 13 injured victims to General Hospital in Badagry for medical attention.
“They deposited the eight dead passengers in the morgue of the same hospital,” he said.
Manga said that some property recovered from the scene of the accident included cash and hand sets.
He said that the command had called on the relatives of the crash victims to come and claim the property recovered from the accident scene.
Manga said that some relatives had come earlier to receive N40,000, N5,000 and hand sets belonging to some victims, making it N692, 850 altogether.
He attributed the crash to excessive speed and reckless overtaking by the bus driver.
Receiving the money on behalf of four victims of the crash, Alhaji Tsoho Babangida thanked the Unit Commander for reaching out to them after the awful accident.
Sanni commended the unit commander for reaching out to them to collect the money of the victims.
He said that some of the victims were alive receiving treatment at the hospital. (NAN)
