Gov Otti Lauds Joseph and Sinach Foundation for Free Medical Outreach

Governor Otti at the event

The Governor of Abia State, Mr. Alex Otti, has applauded the free medical outreach organised by Joseph and Sinach Foundation in collaboration with Emzol Pharmaceutical services at the College of Health Science Management Technology, Aba.

Otti thanked the Egbu family for taking up the philanthropic duty of providing free medical services to the people, noting: “This is what life is all about, when God blesses you; it is more or less obligatory for you to be a blessing to other people.

“I am happy to see this number of people at this event. But I am happier because of the cause, which is reaching out to people who will otherwise not have access to medical care.”

Governor Otti commended the Joseph and Sinach Foundation for remembering to come home to touch the lives of the ordinary people, stating: “Our government is a government that has placed emphasis on health care delivery and that is why in the last few weeks, we have undertaken to reform the health care delivery system in our state starting from the primary to secondary and all the way to the tertiary health care delivery system.

He observed that the Abia State University Teaching Hospital was under-performing, assuring that the government would get it to perform and play its role as a tertiary health care delivery institution. The Governor promised to upgrade all the general hospitals in the state, expressing delight that the private sector was coming in to support the government.

He remarked: “I thank Pastor Egbu very much for coming to support, and we will reach out to him to also extend more support not just to his community but also to other communities in Abia State.

“It is not easy to have a son like him. It is also not easy to have a son that wants to bring back his wealth to help the people.”

In his remarks, the promoter of Joseph and Sinach Foundation, Pastor Joseph Egbu, said that God had blessed his family and they thought it was necessary to bring back the blessings back to their community.

He said: “It is something we have been doing all around the world; in prisons, motherless babies’ homes, orphanages etc. And what really motivated us to do this was that last year we came to our communities to give them moneys to start businesses. But when we came, we found out that people were sick and hungry and not ready for the business we brought. Even some that qualified couldn’t come. So, we decided that we have to come for this medical outreach first.

“There is nothing like politics here, this is a religious ministry. I am a Pastor and my wife is equally a minister, she is an evangelist. This is what God asked us to do. This is the pure form of Christianity. This is our own little token to contribute to the society.”

Pastor Egbu affirmed that the medical outreach was supported by Emzol Pharmaceuticals, which contributed over 80 per cent of the drugs, in addition to providing N1.58milion to pay the doctors and the support staff. According to him: “There is a fulfillment in our hearts, I was so touched. It’s a thing of joy that God found my wife and I worthy to anchor such a beautiful programme.”

The coordinator of the Joseph and Sinach Foundation in Aba, Mrs Joyce Chidi Nwogu, described the event as a marvelous work of God.

She noted: “It is something God has already predicted to happen. Pastor Joseph is a philanthropist. He came home last year and saw that his people needed free medical treatment and he started dreaming about it. And this is a dream come through. We have registered over 700 participants and by the grace of God, we will attend to all of them.”

“We give out drugs, food and drinks, and the people are happy. We are also undertaking some surgeries, So, far, we have sent 15 persons for surgical operations.”

Recall that Sinach, a gospel singer, was recently appointed as a global ambassador of Commonwealth of Dominica. She was expected to repackage and reposition Dominica as a premier tourist and investment destination.
