Guild of Editors’ President, Muhammad, Heads NNPC Public Affairs in New Restructuring, Editors Hail Appointment

Admin March 11, 2016

Garba Deen MuhammadAs part of the restructuring at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the management on Thursday announced new appointments, redeployments and secondments into key positions. In the new NNPC structure expected to promote efficiency, the current President of the Nigeria Guild of Editors, NGE, Garba Deen Muhammad, will head the Public Affairs department. He succeeds Ohi Alegbe who moves to Corporate Social Responsibility Department. Muhammad took over the leadership of the Guild when the immediate past President Femi Adesina was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as his Media Adviser.

Nigerian editors have applauded the appointment of Muhammad as well deserved. Mr. Ray Echebiri, a member of the Standing Committee of the Guild said it is an appointment well deserved. His sentiment was echoed by Secretary of the Guild, Victoria Ibangha, who noted that the appointment of the two Presidents of the Guild into key national positions shows the depth of knowledge, knowhow and competence at the Guild, especially among the Executive members.
