Gunmen Kill Businesswoman, Clergyman In Taraba State

Admin December 6, 2024

December 6, 2024

Gunmen in their number have killed a businesswoman in the Mayo Dasa area of Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

The incident occurred at about midnight on Thursday 6th December 2024.

The Taraba State Police Command Public Relations Officer Abdullahi Usman confirmed this to Channels Television via a telephone interview.

According to him, when the gunmen invaded the compound, they used machetes to break the windows of the house.

“She was reading in her room, preparatory for an examination she was writing, and all of a sudden they opened fire on her, shot her at the back which penetrated and came out through the stomach,” he said.

“After breaking the windows, while in fear the occupants of the house stepped out to be whisked away and surprisingly they did not take anyone along with them.”

He said the gunmen took away nothing.

The second incident, according to the police spokesman, occurred in the Jerbanbur area of Jalingo.

In a similar move, the gunmen opened fire on the clergyman and without picking anything from his house or kidnapping other occupants, left.

Usman revealed that the two victims passed on while being attended to  in the hospital.

He said the attack was strange as the gunmen in their usual move kidnap their victim and sought ransom after that.

According to him, the police have already launched a discrete investigation into the incident to unravel the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

While condoling the family, the police encouraged them to seek solace in God as all hands will be on deck to unearth those behind the act.
