The Holy Bible was the lone survivor in a mayhem caused by insurgents in Minusma, Timbuktu, Mali. Insurgents had attacked a military base and set it ablaze. Property within the vicinity were reduced to ashes including laptops and other electronic gadgets but a Bible remained unsinged by the inferno.
The viral video has set social media buzzing as people glorified the power of the Word of God.
A Nigerian soldier (UC Ezeh) who was part of the international peace-keeping force was seen in a video displaying the unburnt Bible and giving glory to God. He also displayed a charred laptop among the other carcasses in the rubble.
They found the Bible on top of the charred laptop but the Bible was itself unburnt. Both the laptop and Bible were in a make-shift shelter razed completely by the inferno.
“Look at this, from cover to cover, the Bible remained intact. Who says there is no God. To God be all the glory,” he said.
The soldier, beaming with smiles, kept saying ‘to God be the glory”.
Mali had been under constant attacks by insurgents some of whom migrate to as far as Nigeria to become part of the Boko Haram group tormenting northern Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno has in the aftermath of the recent attack in Maiduguri called on the Nigerian military to change strategies to stop the killings by Boko Haram insurgents. No fewer than 30 persons were killed with 18 vehicles and houses razed in the weekend attack.
The governor, however, commended the president for his commitment to ending the insurgency and his consistent empathy to the people of the state.
“Let me appreciate Mr President for associating with us at this our very trying moment. I am so surprised that we have forgotten the past,” he said.
Zulum who noted that although he could not ignore the current unfortunate situation, added that “the people of the state still remember the days before Buhari’s emergence, when 20 out of the 27 local government areas were in the hands of Boko Haram while all the five routes into Borno state were largely inaccessible with exception of Maiduguri-Kano road.
“In addition to sporadic bombings and killings in the state capital, Maiduguri.
“Close to about 20 local government areas resettled under Buhari. In fact, in the year 2016/2017 we celebrated the demise of the Boko Haram insurgency that has unfortunately returned.”
