Eight elders of Okwe community in Onuimo Local Government Area of Imo State, have been shot dead with three corpses roasted by the dare-devil gunmen before fleeing.

It was learnt that the elders were holding a meeting  at the weekend in the community when the gunmen attacked and shot at them Gestapo-style. Eight of the aged men were killed in the fatal attack as members of the rustic community fled to safety amid gunshots.

A trending video showing the corpses of the elders indicated that they were gathered in what looked like a party as drinks were on display.

The State police spokesman, Henry Okoye has confirmed the incident, promising that the command is already investigating the matter.

Imo state has been drifting in and out of bloody incidents visited on the state by unknown gunmen.
