Ibidun Ighodalo: Nigerians call for investigation

Admin June 14, 2020

Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has expressed shock over the death of a former Nigerian beauty queen, Ibidun Ighodalo.

Also Social media critic, Kemi Olunloyo, who said the late Ighodalo was her online friend urged the police to investigate her death. She wondered why anybody would soon deactivate Ighodalo’s Instagram page.

Another Nigerian, Mrs. Tessy Omamule, a criminal psychologist, said there was need to investigate her death, especially as she died in a hotel room. She advised the family to find the courage to probe the death of “such a role model, mother, beauty queen and wife of a popular pastor. Does she have a history of high blood pressure? Does her family have such history? Who was with her in the hotel, who came to visit her while she was there? These and many more should be the questions that should serve as lead during the inquest,” she suggested.

Ighodalo died on Sunday of apparent cardiac arrest in her hotel room in Port Harcourt, Rivers.

Akindele took to her Instagram page to pay tribute to Ighodalo, describing her as a good friend, who impacted on her life and career.

Akindele said that Ighodalo helped her in promoting the ‘Jenifa brand’ and taught her to be classy and decent.

Ighodalo was the wife of Mr Ituah Ighodalo of the Trinity Church, based in Lagos.

The late Ighodalo ran an events company, Elizabeth R, alongside her foundation, Ibidun Ighodalo Foundation, during her lifetime.

Akindele wrote: “So confused!! Don’t know what to write!! Ibidun you were a good friend, you supported my brand when I was very low.

“You helped position the Jenifa brand. You taught me how to be classy and decent. You were always there for me.

“Ha!! Why? We can’t question you oh Lord!!! Rest in peace my beautiful sister. May God comfort uncle’s heart.”
