ICPC tracks 34 constituency projects valued at N4 billion in Benue

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it has commenced tracking of 34 constituency projects in 14 Local Government Areas valued at N4 billion in Benue.

The leader of the tracking team in the state, Mr. Murtala Lawal, made this known to newsmen on Tuesday in Makurdi.

Lawal said the exercise was in line with the mandate of the commission to ensure that all contracts awarded by the Federal Government were executed according to specifications and budgetary provisions.

The team leader stated that the projects were sited in the Makurdi, Tarka, Gwer West, Gwer East, Apa, Agatu, Otukpo, Ado, Kwande, Ukum, Katsina-Ala, Buruku, Vandekiya and Ohimini local government areas.

He revealed that they have already tracked the supply of medical equipment at Federal Medical Centre Makurdi and Tarka Local Government Area to ascertain the level of compliance with the contract provisions.

Lawal expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance with contract terms so far.

He, however, regretted the delay in the completion of the installation of CT scan machine at the Federal Medical Centre Apir, a contract that was awarded in 2024.

He emphasised that the commission would sustain efforts in tracking all constituency projects, adding that such projects were sponsored by the Federal Government for the benefit of the masses and not from personal pockets of politicians.

Lawal further encouraged people to own the constituency projects sited in their communities and protect them as well as report any sharp practices to the ICPC office for necessary action. (NAN)
