ICPC tracks 39 constituency projects worth N13.5bn in Katsina

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has launched Phase 8 of its Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Exercise in Katsina State, scrutinising 39 projects valued at N13.5 billion.

The Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner in the state, Mr. Ludam Samuel, who disclosed this in a statement in Katsina on Friday, said the exercise covers the three Senatorial Districts and Federal Constituencies.

According to him, the exercise underscores the commission’s commitment to transparency, accountability and prudent use of public funds.

He added that the tracking team is working in collaboration with the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) and members of the media to ensure value for money and strict compliance with project specifications.

“So far, the team has inspected multiple health facility projects within the Katsina metropolis, alongside key road projects in Funtua and Kankia.

“Water supply schemes were also monitored in Kurfi, Dutsin-Ma, Mashi and Dutsi as part of efforts to verify their execution and functionality.

“In the education sector, school-based projects in Kafur, Sandamu, Daura and Mai’Adua were examined to assess quality and impact,” the resident commissioner said.

According to him, the team further evaluated the installation of solar-powered streetlights and reviewed various empowerment programmes implemented across the state.

Samuel stated that the exercise forms part of the ICPC’s nationwide mandate to ensure that constituency and executive projects funded with public resources were properly executed and delivered tangible benefits to citizens.

He further reaffirmed the commission’s resolve to strengthen oversight and promote integrity in public service delivery.
