Students, both male and female, of the Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri have continued to jubilate over the busting of two senior lecturers of the university allegedly involved in sex-for-grade escapades with students.

The two lecturers – Victor Obinna Njoku, a professor in the Chemistry Department, and Emmanuel Esogbuonye Agomuo of the Biochemistry Department had been trending in viral videos in which they were caught pants down.  Both lecturers were caught naked with their ‘victims’.  Njoku was caught hunching over a stark naked lady, suspected to be a student, apparently trying to arouse himself while Agomuo was caught stark naked and handcuffed in what looked like a sting operations. He was mocked by his captor who handcuffed him in a hotel room said to be his love nest.

The management of the university has since suspended the two lecturers to pave way for investigation. Spokesman of the university, Ralph Njoku Obi, had confirmed the development

According to him, the management of the institution has set up a committee to probe the two lecturers, adding that the two lecturers captured in the trending video clips are lecturers of the university.

However, some of the IMSU students who spoke to Political Economist said it was justice well-served.

“This has been happening at IMSU. Let’s not pretend here. I have never been a victim though but I have heard fellow students complain about sexual harassment from some lecturers. It serves them right,” says a student who identified herself simply as Rachel.

Another student, Chioma, (surname withheld) said it has been in the university but no student has been bold enough to report it. She however said that students who usually fall victim were those who fail to study and were usually absent from classes.

“Those who fall victim are what we call ‘runs girls’. They are never serious with their studies and they usually resort to ‘sorting’ lecturers with cash or in kind. Sexual harassment is not for everybody”, she said.
